Help Shaping Inclusive Mobility Projects – Participate in a Needs Analysis Survey!

PR.I.M.E. (PRomoting Inclusive Mobility Experiences) is a KA2 project launched in October 2023 and spanning 30 months until March 2026. It aims to enhance the competences of staff involved in mobility projects for individuals with intellectual disabilities and elevate the overall quality of these projects by collecting and producing valuable outputs that cater to the needs of organisations and project staff.

PR.I.M.E. team is composed of 7 partners from 7 European Countries: Italy, France, Poland, Lithuania, Cyprus, Greece and Malta, and is coordinated by Italian organisation – social cooperative Kara Bobowski. Your perspective is valued and you are invited to contribute by taking part in the survey. If you are part of organisations working with people with disabilities, organisations engaged in mobility projects or organisations involved in both (inclusive mobilities), we invite you to complete the survey through form that can be accessed here: survey link.

3rd online meeting of Inclusion Officers focused on the Topic of Outreach

The 3rd Meeting of Inclusion Officers, hosted by the SALTO Inclusion and Diversity in Education and Training and held online on December 5, 2023, gathered more than 30 Inclusion Officers from National Agencies across Europe. The meeting aimed to foster collaboration and exchange experience on the topic of “Engagement of Target Groups and Outreach”.

Guest Speakers Unveil Innovative Projects

Aaron Szczerba and Benedetta Gennaro from Technical University Darmstadt introduced the participants to their project IDEM. The project focuses on innovative outreach strategies to include students facing fewer opportunities in mobilities. Szczerba and Gennaro shared valuable insights into effective engagement methods, such as organising workshops and approaching potential participants, showcasing the impact of their initiatives in creating a more inclusive educational environment.

Milena Jovanović from Serbian Foundation Tempus shed light on their mentorship program designed for organisations working with individuals facing fewer opportunities. Jovanović’s presentation outlined the program’s structure, results, and inspired participants to implement the program in their work contexts.

Latest updates from SALTO ID ET

Tajana Krstonošić and Petra Habulin from SALTO Inclusion and Diversity in Education and Training provided updates on the centre’s latest activities. They presented WATCH IT!, a web accessibility tool for content creators, as well as two factsheets for higher education institutions and mobility participants in higher education (Erasmus+ Opportunities for Stays Abroad and Internationalisation through Erasmus+), created in collaboration with DAAD (German Erasmus+ Agency). Krstonošić and Habulin also announced IDEA (Inclusion and Diversity in Erasmus+ Assessments), a publication for project evaluators which will be finished and uploaded to the SALTO website in the upcoming weeks.

Open Agenda: Spotlight on Creative Inclusivity

Isabella Livoti from Belgian EPOS vzw presented information about a wordless theatre play titled “Horizon,” performed by Theater van A tot Z. The play raises questions such as How important are differences in our globalised world? and Can people be different and still be the same?.

We Were Cooking Up Inclusion and Diversity at the ID Kitchen Training Course!

SALTO Inclusion and Diversity in Youth, along with SALTO Inclusion and Diversity in Education and Training, organized the ID Kitchen Training Course. The online event was held from the 16th to the 18th of October and had two aims: (i) to support non-inclusion officers to develop their competences related to inclusion & diversity issues and approaches; (ii) to maximise the results and impact of their national agency’s (NA) inclusion work.

Through this training course a space was provided for NA staff from youth, education and training and cross-sectoral NAs to get familiar with ID concepts and gain better understanding of the ID issues. It also helped them become better equipped to support their colleagues (ID Officers) and beneficiaries, as well as exchange ideas, share practices and reflect on the values and aims of the their work.

The 4th edition of the training will be held from the 5th to 7th February 2024, so stay tuned!

Report Promoting diversity and inclusion in schools in Europe is out!

Eurydice report Promoting diversity and inclusion in schools in Europe examines the current national/top-level policies and strategies aimed at enhancing diversity and inclusivity in school education.

The report offers a comparative overview of policies and measures across the educational systems of 39 European countries and provides various country-specific examples that highlight some of the most recent initiatives implemented throughout Europe.

Its primary emphasis is on students who face a higher likelihood of encountering disadvantages or discrimination in school environments, such as students from diverse migrant, LGBTIQ+ students, those with special educational needs or disabilities, etc.

Eurydice is a European network dedicated to sharing and providing relevant data on education systems and policies in 39 countries, thus supporting European cooperation in the field of lifelong learning and education.

SALTO Achievements Showcased at EACEA’s Inclusion Network Meeting

Upon invitation from EACEA (Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency), an agency of the European Union responsible for managing various funding programs and initiatives related to education, culture and audiovisual content, SALTO Inclusion and Diversity participated in the 3rd online meeting of the EACEA Inclusion and Diversity Network. Josip Luša, Head of SALTO Inclusion and Diversity, delivered a presentation and highlighted the accomplishments and initiatives undertaken by the resource centre since its establishment.

SALTO’s input laid the foundation for future cooperation with EACEA as both sides explored shared goals and interests and discussed collaboration possibilities. With a view to promoting and enhancing inclusion and diversity in the projects and activities managed by EACEA, SALTO presented a number of useful tools and publications that are already available on its official website, as well as its plans for 2024. Discussed in greater detail and deemed as particularly useful were tools and publications related to establishment of a network of inclusion and diversity ambassadors, development and update of inclusion and diversity strategies, digital accessibility and inclusive event organisation

To effectively address access challenges and raise awareness of inclusion and diversity options and support mechanisms, EACEA has developed a comprehensive Inclusion and Diversity Action Plan, supported by a dedicated network of inclusion officers.

An agreement was reached to keep the EACEA Inclusion and Diversity Network in the loop concerning future SALTO activities and developments, in particular upcoming meetings and trainings.

Annual SALTO Meeting 2023: Strengthening Synergies and Shaping the Future of the Network

The SALTO Inclusion and Diversity (Education and Training) participated in the Annual SALTO Meeting 2023 from September 25 to 29. The meeting was convened in Paris, with the primary aim of fostering stronger connections between youth, education and training and cross-sectoral SALTO resources centres. Hosted by SALTO Euromed (France) and supported by SALTO Digital (Finland), this gathering brought together around 40 representatives from 11 SALTO centres to discuss ways to enhance the quality and impact of EU programs (Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps) and functioning as a network.

Over three intense working days, we engaged in fruitful discussions, shared experiences, and collaboratively charted the course for the future. The meeting began with a reflection on significant events held within the SALTO network over the past year. In the next 2 days we explored the similarities and differences among various SALTO centres, discussed network advantages and challenges and strategic aspects. We were also discovering opportunities for collaboration among several SALTO centres on the horizontal priorities of the Erasmus+ program. The meeting concluded with a review of next year’s network activities.

2nd Meeting of Inclusion Officers: Fostering Inclusion and Diversity Across National Agencies

The 2nd Meeting of Inclusion Officers, held online on September 19, 2023 and organized by SALTO Inclusion and Diversity in Education and Training (SALTO ID ET), brought together 43 Inclusion Officers from National Agencies across Europe, representatives from European Commission and SALTO centre for Inclusion and Diversity in Education and Youth.

Opening Insights from European Commission, Croatian National Agency and SALTO ID ET

After a warm welcome from Josip Luša, the head of the SALTO ID ET, the event commenced with inspiring speeches from key figures. Ljubica Petrović Baronica, Assistant Director at the Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes, highlighted the pivotal role of Inclusion Officers. Marta Gutierrez Benet from the European Commission underscored the EU’s commitment to inclusion, as horizontal priority of Erasmus+.

Tajana Krstonošić and Petra Habulin from SALTO Inclusion and Diversity in Education and Training provided valuable insights into the latest updates of the centre. Henrique Goncalves, representing SALTO Inclusion and Diversity in Youth, presented their newest tools and publication fostering inclusion.

 Embracing Inclusive Thinking, Reflection on NA’s work regarding inclusion and Open Agenda

Miriam Petra Ómarsdóttir Awad, from Rannis, shared the importance of an inclusive mindset, urging attendees to go beyond policies and embrace inclusivity in every aspect of their work.

Later, attendees engaged in lively breakout sessions, sharing what works and what doesn’t in their National Agencies regarding inclusion and diversity. This interactive session encouraged the exchange of practices and reflecting on work of NA’s.

The meeting wrapped up with an open agenda, in which Sandra Mažulytė from Lithuanian NA presented A special guide for special people, for special ideas, for special experiences (4S) which provides easy-to-read guidelines for people with special needs participating on mobility projects and organizations working with them.

Share Your Perspective on Erasmus+ and Help European Commission to Evaluate It!

European Commission invites you to participate in the open public consultation on Erasmus+, which will contribute to the evaluation of the program’s current status. This consultation also encompasses the evaluation of Erasmus+ from 2014 to 2020.

Regardless of whether you’re a student, an educator, a youth worker, a staff member at a sending organization, an NGO representative, or come from any other background, your input is highly valued. Your perspective holds significance irrespective of your nationality, age, or prior involvement with Erasmus+.

The consultation addresses various aspects, including:

  • The relevance of the program’s objectives in meeting current societal needs.
  • The program’s efforts in reducing its environmental impact, reaching out to persons with fewer opportunities, and achieving its goals.
  • The program’s inclusivity and user-friendliness.

The consultation will remain open for 12 weeks, concluding on December 8, 2023 and it is available in all 24 official EU languages.
