The representatives of the SALTO Resource Centre for Inclusion and Diversity met with the Director of Erasmus Student Network (ESN), Mr. Wim Gabriels, for talks on future cooperation in the field of student mobility.
ESN is one of the biggest student associations in Europe that has been actively promoting and improving international student exchange for over 30 years. The network is active in over 1,000 higher education institutions from more than 40 countries, with around 15,000 active members across the world. Though primarily focused on promoting the interest of students who are spending a part of their professional education at a higher education institution abroad, ESN is also dedicated to improving the position of future exchange students and non-mobile students (“internationalisation at home”).
The establishment of a new SALTO Resource Centre for Inclusion and Diversity opened up new opportunities for cooperation as two networks seek ways in which they can jointly contribute to creation of a more mobile and flexible higher education environment. Key initiatives that the two sides will be working on in 2023 include further development of the InclusiveMobility.eu, a European platform on inclusion and support services offered by higher education institutions, national agencies, and ministries for education to international students, as well as increased involvement of both networks in long-term activities (LTAs) implemented by national agencies across Europe.
More information on the dedicated work that the network has done to support and enhance student mobility can be found on the official website of ESN and their social media: Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
